Fundamentals
Understanding Units
The calculator reads in units. Here is exactly what a unit is — and why it stays the same on every insulin syringe.

A unit is always 0.01 mL — it does not matter which insulin syringe you grab. A 20-unit draw pulls the same 0.2 mL on a 0.3 mL, 0.5 mL, or 1 mL syringe. Bigger syringes simply hold more tick marks, not bigger units.
Procedure
Seven-Step Protocol
- 01
Prepare the Environment
Wash your hands thoroughly and sanitize your workspace. Lay out every supply before puncturing a septum: peptide vial, U-100 insulin syringe, bacteriostatic water, and 70% isopropyl alcohol swabs.
- 02
Inspect & Temper the Vial
Confirm the lyophilized powder is intact and the vial seal is unbroken. Verify the lot number against your COA. If the vial was refrigerated, allow it to reach room temperature before mixing.
- 03
Swab the Stoppers
Clean the rubber septum of both the peptide vial and the bacteriostatic water vial with a fresh 70% isopropyl alcohol swab. Let them air-dry — never blow on a septum.
- 04
Draw Bacteriostatic Water
Using a sterile syringe, withdraw your calculated volume of bacteriostatic water (sterile water preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol). Equalize pressure by re-injecting air into the diluent vial first if needed.
- 05
Inject Against the Wall
Aim the needle at the glass vial wall — never blast the powder directly. Let the diluent trickle down the side so the peptide dissolves gently and foaming is minimized.
- 06
Swirl to Dissolve
Roll the vial between your palms until the solution is clear. Do not shake or vortex — mechanical agitation degrades the peptide chain and denatures the molecule.
- 07
Store Reconstituted
Once mixed, keep the solution refrigerated at 36–46 °F (2–8 °C). Most reconstituted peptides remain stable 14–30 days under refrigeration. Never freeze a reconstituted vial.
Checklist
Supplies Required
- Lyophilized peptide vial (lot-matched to COA)
- Bacteriostatic water — 0.9% benzyl alcohol
- U-100 insulin syringes (0.3 / 0.5 / 1.0 mL)
- Alcohol swabs — 70% isopropyl
- Sterile mixing needle (18–22 G, optional)
- Sharps container for disposal
Stability Notes
Lyophilized powder is stable for weeks at room temperature and months refrigerated. Once reconstituted, potency declines — use within the compound-specific window and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
